Student Behaviour Policy
Philosophy, Rationale, and Approach to Student Conduct (Grades 8–12)
At Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS), we are committed to building a
school environment where every student is safe, respected, and empowered to
thrive—intellectually, socially, and emotionally. We believe that student behaviour is
not separate from learning—it is a core part of personal growth, reflecting an
individual’s values, choices, and maturity.
Our discipline policy for Grades 8–12 is designed to uphold the school’s mission,
vision, and core values, ensuring a community grounded in responsibility,
fairness, and dignity. As students mature through adolescence, we expect them to
demonstrate increasing levels of self-awareness, accountability, and empathy.
While we encourage reflection and learning from mistakes, we also maintain that with
growing independence comes the need for clear boundaries and consistent
consequences. We do not just respond to misbehaviour—we guide students to take
responsibility, make amends, and restore trust. This is the foundation of our
restorative and developmentally appropriate approach.
Our Approach: Restorative and Accountable
Ÿ Restorative practices are central to how we respond to conflict, harm, or
misconduct. We encourage students to reflect on what happened, who was
impacted, and what they can do to make things right.
Ÿ Logical consequences are applied when needed, not to punish, but to uphold
community standards and support a student’s learning. Consequences are fair,
proportionate, and focused on restoring relationships and promoting
responsibility.
Aligned with Our Institutional Values
Our expectations are framed by the following principles, which define the behavioural
culture of DAIS:
Ÿ Promote Safety: Ensure a physically and emotionally safe school environment
for all. Prevent behaviours that may lead to harm or exclusion.
Ÿ Foster Respect Treat everyone with dignity, kindness, and fairness. Uphold
equity and inclusion across all interactions.
Ÿ Support Learning Contribute positively to the learning environment. Avoid
actions that disrupt learning—for oneself or others.
