EMPATHY IN ACTION: EXPLORING THE ESSENCE OF SEVA Some HIGHLIGHTS of our STUDENT LIFE
ROUND SQUARE CONFERENCE AT STEP BY STEP SCHOOL, NOIDA
CELEBRATING FESTIVALS
Six students from DAIS IGCSE, class 9 BC participated in the Round
Square Conference hosted by Step by Step School, Noida, in April 2025. JANMASHTAMI
The conference offered students service a powerful and reflective NAVRATRI CELEBRATIONS
experience centred around the theme of Seva. Through immersive
sessions, hands-on activities, and rich conversations, delegates explored
service not as a passive act of giving, but as a meaningful way of living
with empathy and intention.
The conference began with icebreakers involving dance and team-
based challenges that instantly built rapport among students from
across the country. Interactive stalls, such as a self-defense booth and a
handmade bookmark display, encouraged active engagement. A
compelling keynote address by social activist Ms. Renana Jhabvala
challenged traditional ideas of charity. She emphasised that true service
empowers and uplifts, requiring quiet persistence and a deep respect
for dignity over visibility.
Delegates participated in a tree-planting activity, which became a
meaningful metaphor for the ripple effect of small, thoughtful actions.
A visit to the NGO Goonj was among the most impactful experiences. EID CELEBRATIONS
Students observed how urban surplus was transformed into resources
for rural communities through the organization's “Cloth for Work”
initiative. By the end of the five-day conference, delegates walked away
with a deeper, more nuanced understanding of Seva, not just as a value,
but as a lifelong commitment to purposeful, compassionate action.
