High Quality Teaching and Learning (HQTL)

Students are placed at the centre of teaching and learning at DAIS. An inquiry-based and concept-driven approach across all subjects will empower students with skills essential for success in the 21st century. Our academic programme is enhanced and enriched by a wide range of complementary activities that support and augment students' learning experiences.

Our definition of High Quality Teaching and Learning (HQTL) encompasses a broad set of guidelines where learning:

  • is holistic to meet the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of learners.

  • takes place in a safe and supportive environment.

  • happens through inquiry, conceptual understanding, differentiated instruction and use of technology.

  • develops critical thinkers.

  • nurtures creativity, research and innovation.

  • fosters collaboration and effective communication.

  • provides experiential learning in local and global contexts.

  • incorporates formative assessment, summative assessment and self-assessment to inform teaching and learning.

  • inculcates the values of integrity, empathy, and compassion.

  • creates self-directed learners.
