(DAIMUN)
The Dhirubhai Ambani International School's annual THIMUN
conference returned for its 20th edition in 2024. With 9
committees, 19 participating schools and over 500 delegates,
DAIMUN 2024 left an indelible mark. Our committees'
engaging agendas sparked fiery debates and inspired Q&A session at the Opening Ceremony The teachers' team behind DAIMUN 2024
passionate speeches f rom numerous delegates. Our
committees included Disarmament and International Security
(DISEC), Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN), Social,
Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM), Committee
for the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), Human Rights
Council (HRC), Sustainable Development Committee (SDC),
Security Council (SC), Historic Security Council (HSC), and the
International Courts (IC). In addition, our illustrious Press Corps
covered the conference on paper as well as digitally and
logistics of the conference were managed by the efficient
Administration department. Day 1 of the conference
commenced with lobbying where delegates formed blocs and
alliances as they developed familiarity with the THIMUN
procedures and formal debate. The theme of the conference was “Diversity, Democracy, Diplomacy”, which
challenged delegates to engage in fruitful debate and deliberate on the main ideas of the conference, and how they Guest speech by Deputy Secretary General, Rushaan Agarwal Secretary General Kiara Maniar
interplayed with our committee-specific agendas. By the end of the first day, delegates transformed into fearsome
leaders and claimed charge over the pressing issues they had to discuss. As a flurry of suits and dresses entered the
auditorium on Day 2, DAIMUN 2024 was declared open by our Secretary General, Kiara Maniar. The esteemed chief
guests, Sir D.B. Venkatesh Varma, former Indian Ambassador to Russia, and Dr. Harsh Pant, Vice President of Studies
and Foreign Policy at the Observer Research Foundation had an insightful discussion with our Deputy Secretary
Generals, Rushaan Agarwal and Veer Mehta, along with a Q&A session with the audience. Delegates then proceeded
to start debate, passing and rejecting resolutions, as well as engaging in significant discussions with each other. On
Day 3, committees continued with their proceedings to bring the conference to a satisfying conclusion, ending the
day with a much needed social where delegates enjoyed refreshments and music. On Day 4, the general assemblies
moved into Plenary, and a final round of debate ensued among all the specialised committees. Then, the conference
came to a momentous close with an entertaining video from the Videography team which presented the numerous
memories created at DAIMUN. The final bang of the gavel from Ayaana Parekh, our President of the General
