CYCLE OF FORTUNE: MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE
8 B SPIN AT A TIME

This year, at the DAIS and NMAJS CAS FETE, I had the exciting
opportunity to organize Cycle of Fortune—the first-ever MYP-led stall.
Created in support of my initiative, ‘Project Pads Not Privilege’, the
stall aimed to fight period poverty in India by raising both funds and
awareness about the lack of menstrual hygiene products, education,
and facilities faced by countless women. Since launching, Project
Pads Not Privilege has raised over ₹5 lakhs, distributed reusable pads
in rural Maharashtra and Karnataka, held hygiene sessions with 70+
orphanage girls, and started a petition with 100+ supporters. What
began as a simple proposal evolved—through brainstorming,
mentorship, and design—into a lively, meaningful project. The stall featured three interactive games: Red Light –
Green Light, Memory Malfunction, and Cash or Crash. MYP volunteers ran the games in shifts, making it a
collaborative service effort combining fundraising and advocacy. Half the proceeds went to the Go Girl Foundation
for pad distribution, and the rest supported our CAS partner NGOs. In the end, Cycle of Fortune wasn’t just a stall—it
became a powerful example of how student-driven action can lead to real, lasting change.
