Sudarshan Manikantan of ICSE Class 10 Triumphs at Columbia University Debate Tournament

Sudarshan Manikantan of DAIS IGCSE 10A showcased exceptional debating prowess at the prestigious Inter-Varsity British Parliamentary Debate Tournament conducted by the Columbia University Debate Society, New York.

 

The tournament saw participation from over 200 debaters representing renowned universities such as Oxford, Dartmouth, Babson, Cornell, and many others.

 

After qualifying through five intense preliminary rounds, Sudarshan, along with his teammate (Team name: Legendary Pokemons), advanced through the knockout stages and emerged Champions in the ESL (English as a Second Language) Category, winning both the semifinals and finals.

 

In addition, Sudarshan achieved the remarkable distinction of being adjudged the 5th Best Speaker of the Tournament, standing out as the only high school participant among university-level debaters.
