Shakespearean Soiree
Class 10A organised a Shakespearean Soiree to honour the Bard. The ‘Shakesphere’ had exciting game stalls, a photobooth and book recommendations for the visitors. Tastefully designed brochures gave a sneak-peak into the programme. One stall had an interactive quiz which decided on a Shakespearean play for the player to read. Another stall displayed a timeline in the form of a board game, providing interesting facts about his life. The third stall was suitor-ready with caskets of gold, silver and lead where you could bag a prize by solving a riddle. The fourth stall required the players to translate Shakespearean phrases into modern English. A photo booth was set up with cutouts of popular characters from The Merchant of Venice, Antonio and Bassanio, and memories were created at the click of the camera. For the grand finale, 10A staged an adaptation of ‘The Merchant of Venice’ for their audience from grades 7, 8 amd 9. A product of creativity, collaboration and camaraderie, the Shakespearean Soiree would have had the Bard himself say ’”I stand tall, for I am proud!”
