World Stem & Robotics Olympiad (WSRO) National & International Championships 2023

Keyaan Shah of DAIS Class 10 B and his team-mate Ahaan Shah from JPIS, Jaipur, won at the World Stem & Robotics Olympiad (WSRO) National & International Championships 2023, in association with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat. They came First at the WSRO National Championship, with prize money of Rs 15000/- and were Second Runners-Up at the WSRO International Championship in the Entrepreneurial Challenge for their project ‘SignKraft’.

200+ participants contested in the WSRO Entrepreneurial Challenge category, after going through several qualifying rounds of the Olympiad. The final event was held at Science City, Ahmedabad on the 13th & 14th September 2023.

‘SignKraft’, which is a handheld device for Indian sign language translation to facilitate seamless communication for the deaf, has previously won a Gold Medal and Rs. 10000/- at the WSRO Regional Entrepreneurial Challenge held last year. They then qualified for the Nationals. They have been continually working on product upgrades since the past year, based on inputs received from the deaf community, to make it market-ready. They have created 4 prototypes so far, each one being an upgrade of the previous one.
