Nikkolas Smith visit

Inspiring Creativity and Social Change

Nikkolas Smith, a renowned artist, author, film illustrator, and award-winning picture book illustrator, visited DAIS and led an engaging session focusing on the concept of ‘artivism’ and storytelling through the medium of art. Nikkolas is known for his work at Disney and Marvel, where he has designed theme parks and reimagined Marvel superheroes of color, to create picture books for justice and peace.

The session highlighted the importance of using one's talents and abilities to advocate for peace and positive change in society.

Nikkolas narrated the story from his book 'The Artivist', encouraging students to nurture their creativity and inspiring them to harness their abilities to make a difference in the world, urging them to think beyond conventional boundaries.

The author conducted a hands-on art activity with the children, urging them to think of one way in which they could use their art to make the world a better place for all. The session encouraged active engagement and interaction, with our students of all primary and middle school classes, participating in discussions and artistic expression. Before concluding the session, Nikkolas instilled in the students a sense of collective responsibility and activism through art.
