Dandiya Delight @ DAIS

DAIS recently celebrated Navratri with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The day’s celebration began with a whole-school assembly performed by the students of Class 8 A. The theme of the assembly was ‘The Victory of Good over Evil’, enacting Goddess Durga’s battle with the demon Mahishasura over 10 days, which resulted in his death. The show also highlighted a contemporary twist on the concept of victory in the modern context. It provoked the students to introspect and banish the negative thoughts (demons), bringing about positivity and confidence within themselves. The assembly featured engaging dances that incorporated elements of traditional ‘Garba’ and foot-tapping folk music.

Following the assembly performance, the entire school enthusiastically participated in class-level Dandiya celebrations. All students and faculty were dressed in colourful traditional Indian attire. The entire campus came alive with the rhythmic beats of the music and the resounding tap of the dandiya sticks, steeped in culture and ethnicity. This event brought the school community together in a celebration of culture and values, fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity among all participants.
