IBDP G 11 Keyaan Shah honoured as Asia's Top 4 at Commonwealth Youth Awards



IBDP G 11 Keyaan Shah has been recognised as one of the Top 4 Changemakers in Asia at the Commonwealth Youth Awards. His exceptional vision, passion, and dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities – is truly inspiring. By empowering individuals with disabilities from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, he is not only creating lasting change but also leading the charge toward a more inclusive and equitable world.

Keyaan's recent experience at the Commonwealth Week Celebrations in London, where esteemed dignitaries, including the Head of the Commonwealth, King Charles III; the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland; and High Commissioners, came together over the week for a series of celebratory events marking Commonwealth Day.

 

 

The Commonwealth Youth Awards celebrations took place at Marlborough House, the International Headquarters of the Commonwealth Secretariat, serving as a remarkable platform to honour 20 outstanding young leaders (upto 29 years) driving the Sustainable Development Goals across the 56 Commonwealth nations, with Keyaan being the youngest among them at 16 years. The selected changemakers, four from each of the five Commonwealth regions – Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, Europe and Canada, and the Pacific – included social entrepreneurs, environmental champions, and human rights activists working towards a more sustainable and equitable future.

 

Keyaan was honored as one of Top 4 Changemakers in Asia in recognition of his exceptional commitment to UNSDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, empowering individuals with disabilities from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Along with a trophy and certificate, he was awarded a grant of £1,000 to further his impact in this space. He received the award from the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland, Dr. Arjoon Suddhoo, Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth; Deborah Jamieson, Chief of Staff and Senior Director at the Commonwealth Secretariat; and Frederik Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of The Bahamas.
