Kalaghoda Art Festival - Shelved Aspirations

At the Kalaghoda Art Festival, our students created an artistic installation, titled "Shelved Aspirations", under this year's theme "If wishes were horses..." This installation was created and put together by our students of grade 6,7 and 8.

The students' rationale behind "Shelved Aspirations" was that if wishes were horses, there would be many more horses in the world. Each student of grade 6,7 and 8 students cast their own wish, in the form of a wax horse and personalized their horse using color, symbols and words, to communicate that wish. The saying goes, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride", which means that life would be easy if we could get what we wanted simply by wishing for it. The students thought that most people have wishes for things that they want, but because it is tougher to work for those things, as to wish for them, those wishes get shelved or set aside for a later date. So the students combined all of our wish-horses in a shelf display, meant to indicate that these hundreds of wishes are often set aside and never acted upon.
