Ganapati Visarjan at DAIS

Festivals promote feelings of social cohesion and communal harmony. Echoing this sentiment, the Primary section of the school celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on 11th September, 2019.

In the spirit of the occasion, all the students made little Ganesh idols in their Art classes. A bigger idol was made as a collaborative effort, which would be immersed by the students.

In the afternoon of the 11th of September, the students entered the school auditorium to loud music for the celebrations and the revelry. The festivities began with the traditional ‘aarti’, accompanied by melodious ‘bhajans’, by our young singers. Every aspect of the ‘aarti’ was demonstrated and explained by the Marathi teachers. The assembled students sang along with much fervor and devotion to Lord Ganesha, who is believed to be the symbol of wisdom and the remover of obstacles.

As a grand culmination of the celebration, it was time for the farewell procession or Ganesh Visarjan. Amidst chantings of, “Ganapati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Laokar Ya!” the students carried the idol to the front lawn of the school, where a pool of water was waiting for the immersion of Lord Ganesh. The students bid a final farewell to their favourite God, waiting anxiously for his visit next year. Ganapati Bappa Morya!
