DAIS Students Triumph at the World Youth Transnational Bridge Championship 2026
Viha Gahrotra of IGCSE Class 9 D & Ananya Mehta of IGCSE Class 10 C achieved a remarkable international victory at the 2026 World Youth Transnational Bridge Championship in Hefei, China.
Competing in the U16 category as part of a unique transnational team named “Triple Trouble”, Viha and Ananya joined pairs from England and Norway to form a six-member team representing three countries. Their teammates were Aleks Blicharz and Wilf Marshall of England, and Markus Hansen Moe and Brage Hansen Moe of Norway.
Among 98 teams from across the world, Triple Trouble made an impressive start by qualifying 10th to advance to the championship rounds. They continued their strong run through the competition to reach the U16 Final B.
The final proved to be a thrilling contest. Triple Trouble emerged victorious with a score of 98.61, narrowly defeating a team from host nation China, which finished with 98.20. The result was decided on the very last hand of the final round, making their victory an especially memorable finish to three days of concentration, strategy, and teamwork.
