Indo-Spanish Exchange: A Journey of Culture and Discovery

Indo-Spanish Exchange 2024-25

Spain wasn’t just a trip; it was a whirlwind of culture, history, and unforgettable moments that made us pause, stare, and truly feel. The crisp Spanish air greeted us as we stepped off the plane. Ten students of Grade 9 settled into the hotel, while six grade 11 students stayed with host families. Led by Mr. Sunil Makwana and Ms. Ananta Prasad, we were ready for an adventure of a lifetime. From the medieval walls of Ávila to the fairytale aqueducts of Segovia, every place whispered stories. Toledo dazzled with its layered heritage, where Christian and Muslim influences met. Madrid, regal and vibrant, stunned us. At the Prado Museum, we stood awestruck before Velázquez’s Las Meninas and Goya’s powerful works. Wandering through royal palaces and bustling plazas, we traced Spain’s rich past.

At SEK School, we experienced Spanish education firsthand—with a business class taught entirely in Spanish. We built LEGO breakdancers in robotics, struggled with flamenco, and peered into the cosmos through advanced telescopes. Ordering food and navigating streets became exciting challenges—Google Maps was our best friend. From churros to souvenirs and getting scammed buying jerseys, we brought home more than keepsakes. Our final act? Performing Chogada Tara at SEK’s assembly. Spain wasn’t just a destination—it was a rhythm we danced to, a story we lived, and a memory etched in time.
