Art Exhibition & Workshops

The annual DAIS Art Exhibition showcases the dialectical relation between students and their everyday contexts. Their own perspectives and passion colour every piece on display. The knowledge of artistic eras and techniques learned in class helps students migrate among various forms of artistic medium. Students work in various media like pencil sketch, painting, sculptures with clay and plaster, print making like mono prints, etching and serigraphy, pottery and textile dyeing. To this end, the DAIS art department aims to create an enjoyable and creative atmosphere for students to learn visual skills, verbal expression while exploring with as many possible material and media. The Art exhibition is a testimony to their blossoming imagination as well as a critical and intensely personal record of themselves in relation to the world. In every child, it prompts a process of reflection and evaluation; encourages them to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. At the same time, the works on display demonstrate their understanding of how a body of work can communicate meaning and purpose for different audiences

Workshops and Presentations

The DAIS academic calendar schedules various workshops to expose students to various aspects of Visual creativity - contemporary and traditional - from the fields of Art, craft and design. As a part of their learning process, the Art Department organizes Encounters and Art workshops for students every year. Here, the department invites creative individuals from any of the artistic fields to work with students who study art for their examination paper. Atul Dodiya, Sudhir Patawardhan, Sharmila Samant Shilpa Gupta, Jashis Kamli, Kaiwan Mehta are some of the Artists, Architects and Designers with whom students have had Encounter sessions where they showcased their works and had a question-answer session with them.
