Important Information on Changes in Age Criteria for Admission

We are introducing changes in the age criteria for admission to Dhirubhai Ambani International School, effective from the Academic Year 2024-25.

    • As per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the minimum age of children for admission to Class 1 must be 6 years.

    • The age criterion followed by DAIS for admission to LKG in Academic Year 2023-24 was that the children were born between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2019.

    • With the objective of meeting the age criteria (minimum age of 6 years in Class 1) as stipulated by NEP, we are taking Academic Year 2024-25 as a bridge year to progressively move to the new age requirement. Accordingly, DAIS will offer Nursery class only for Academic Year 2024-25, with children who are born between 1 January 2020 and 28 February 2021 being eligible to seek admission.

    • As Nursery will be the entry class in Academic Year 2024-25, there won’t be any admission to LKG in Academic Year 2024-25.

    • With the above changes, all children born after the earlier stipulated cut-off date of 31 December 2019 will be eligible to apply to Nursery in Academic Year 2024-25. Through this, we have ensured that no child will miss the opportunity to apply for admission to DAIS.

    • The children admitted to Nursery in Academic Year 2024-25 will progress to LKG in Academic Year 2025-26. Hence, there won’t be any admission to LKG in Academic Year 2025-26. As mentioned above, during these transition years, no child will miss the opportunity to apply to DAIS.

    • In Academic Year 2026-27, children who are born between 1 March 2021 and 30 April 2022 will be eligible to seek admission to LKG.

    • Considering the above-mentioned points, the new age criteria from Academic Year 2024-25 are presented in the following table:

Academic Year Class to which Admission Offered Date of Birth Range Date of Birth Range between youngest child and eldest child
    2024-25 Nursery 1 January 2020 to 28 February 2021 14 months
2025-26 No Admission to Nursery or LKG ##
    2026-27 LKG 1 March 2021 to 30 April 2022 14 months
    2027-28 LKG 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2023 12 months

    ## Children admitted to Nursery in 2024-25 will progress to LKG in 2025-26
